How blogs can help you
Case Example: Dean came to therapy because he was really struggling with his new role. He was overworked but found his current boss unsympathetic and continued to expect him to meet impossible dead lines. He was also having problems at home where he was finding his step son unruly and not respecting the boundaries he set on how the home should be maintained. This conflict then resulted in more arguments with his new wife, which was also stressing him out. Through therapy he learned how to manage his stress and worry and become more self aware of his triggers to stress and practised the worry tree technique daily. As he then felt more able to deal with his worries, it help his confidence and performed better as a result. This had a positive effect at work and helped his relationship with his boss. He learned to be more honest at work about his worries and found that his boss and the organisation was supportive and had policies to support people who suffered from their mental health. At home, he again, decided to be more vulnerable about how he was feeling, which helped his wife to have a better understanding of his problems. Through him improving his communication skills, he found it was a much more effective way to manage conflicts with his family. In addition he learned more about how to manage his anxiety through reading blogs, which helped to build his confidence in this area. (Details have been changed to protect confidentiality.)
